I heard Toyota had some political reasoning for the delay in recalling their defective cars. Cars that steer on their own, brakes that don't work, accelerator pedals sticking to the floor mats, computers failing. Did I miss anything else?

Man, that's gotta be freaky. Drive a car and it starts to wander on it's own. Turn the wheel one way and it goes the oposite. They rely to heavily on computers to control the automobile any more. I like a vehicle where the steering wheel is attached to a rod that turns inside of a rack & pinion or recpricating ball type gearbox. Not the other where the steering wheel is connected to a sensor that sends info to the computer. Then the computer controls a servo motor that turns the wheels. Or having a button on the dash to start/stop the engine. I prefer the 'ol standby key switch. And I'd rather have a vehicle with a standard manual shift transmission. That way if there is ever a problem, I just push in the clutch and stop the vehicle. I'd rather be in control of the vehicle I am driving, not the other way around and having a computer do it for me.

I hate to think about how all that is controlled by a computer.
