Beginning to have starter problems on my truck. I see the starter motor has been replaced before. Sure isn't OEM as it would have the Motorcraft tag on it. Probably some cheapy rebuilt starter for an auto parts store.
Waiting for the stores to open up - which will be by 9 am. Will be getting a premium remanufacture starter with the best warranty. Preferably one with a lifetime warranty. Will be more pricey, but will last longer than a cheap rebuilt.
Need to buy a new one and call my garage mechanic to see if he can work on it this morning. I have to work today. Sunday is church day. If not, will probably take pappy's car.

Hey mug, good luck , I hope you find a good starter... I doubt if you will find one with a lifetime warranty tho.... We never found any like that..... The best is to go right to the Dealer, and get one that is right for your truck... Hope it all works out for ya.

Dealer wants $250 for their starters and to have the 90 day warranty, the service garage has to install it. All totaled, $425 to have the starter installed. I bought a remanufactured starter from Chet Nichols Inc. in Bangor with a lifetime warranty for $85 after the $32 core charge. Had Garry install it for $40. I had other lifetime warrantied parts before and some had failed. No problem, brought 'em back for a full replacement and no additional fees. ;D

Congrats mug, you are the first person I ever heard of getting a lifetime warrenty on a remanufactured starter. That is great, so now you'll never have to buy another one.... Seriously, I have never heard of that, and never came across any either.... Great info, and CONGRATS! WAY TO GO!!!

I've always bought the electrical parts with lifetime warranties. Never had a problem yet bringing 'em back if they fail. But I usually don't keep the vehicle long enough to see that part fail. Only a couple times have I had to take a part back cause it failed. And those were a motor for the rear window on Pappy's Ford Taurus and my rear window wiper motor on the Jimmy. No questions asked. All the onces I get, the fasteners and cases are painted/taped to reveal they have been tampered with. That voids the warranty right there.

Boat trailer lights are now working fine with the new wiring I bought at Auto Zone.

Brother repainted the boat trailer but didn't get to rewiring it with new wire/plug. So I done it as my sister is taking it.

Having some lighting issues with my car. On the drive to work the headlights went out a couple times. Fiddled with the switch that turns on the marker and headlights, but doesn't seem to be the culprit. Might be the switch that changes from high to low. The "flash-to-pass" works fine though. Might also be a loose, corroded or worn relay too. Will have to check it out.
Had similar problems with my 1989 Chevy K-1500, but that problem was with the plugs attaching to the sealed headlamps. And the other was the switch itself as it shorted out.
Nothing inside the car got hot or smelled anything getting hot.
