Been thinking about purchasing a hitch receiver for my truck. Don't need the whole kit as I already have a 4-wire plug factory installed and the drawbar with both 2" and 1-7/8" balls. Found one on Auto Zone for $137.79, which also includes MI sales tax. May be getting it soon.
My current trailer pitches upward when coupled the the factory ball on the step bumper. The load shifts towards the back of the trailer no matter how tightly I strap the load. Especially when hitting hard bumps on the road.

Bought a hitch receiver, but have a problem. The corner bumper brace is much wider on my pickup hindering the ability to install the receiver. Otherwise it would fit up like a glove. But again Ford decided to use a different style wider corner brace instead of the normal rod style brace most 2001 Rangers have.

Do you really need the corner braces?

Do you really need the corner braces? If I back into something or someone hits me, the bumper may curl inwards on impact.

The hitch receiver I was getting at Auto Zone are Multi-Fit Hitch Receivers.[/u] I took mine to a place that installs hitch receivers and they told me to take it back. There is no feasible way to install that particular hitch receiver on my pickup - regardless to what the company claims.
Took it back and ORDERED a custom fit hitch receiver. It fit like a glove. No modifications what-so-ever!! Didn't have to remove the bumper at all. And the spare tire fits into it's well area under the bed.
