Even with an outdoor antenna turn directly towards WWMT's transmitting tower, lightning static still affects the quality of the signal. Watching Monk as it gets pixeled often from the distant lightning. A bad thunderstorm can sometimes affect the digital signal here to. Im glad to say we have not had a very bad thunderstorm in months. Parts of England have now started the digital switch. My area has 12/14months to go before I have to make the digital switch but im already 95% ready for when the digital switch happens in my area. When I got my new 22inch lcd tv for my bedroom at the weekend there I noticed that one in every 3 tvs sold now have a built in digital tuner and some tvs even have the HD ready logo on them. Also you cant just go out and buy just a vcr anymore. Shops now only sell vcr's if they are a combi vcr/dvd player. Darren

Yes, talking on my cellphone messes up DTV. Lightning will also mess it up. Or even a moderate current drawing appliance turning on/off. Even though channel 3 and PBS has a very strong signal.

I'm not getting anything with rabbit ears. I might as well put the converter back into the box and put it away.

Sadly if you dont live in or near a main town/city or near a transmitter the rabbit ears are no good to you and a thing of the post. I got rid of the rabbit ears a few months back as i was getting poor digital signal from them and im now using this for my tv but once in a while as I posrted I still seem to get pitcure beak up on one or two channel's. www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11080816Im thinking of getting another one of them antenna's for my small tv in the bedroom.

You can use any type of outdoor antenna. I got mine cheap from buying it used as the original owner thought it wouldn't work for DTV. Father already had the rotor. I paid $25 for the antenna.
Plus I receive tons of FM radio stations as well on my stereo receiver.

I'm not getting anything with rabbit ears. I might as well put the converter back into the box and put it away. You need an outdoor antenna. I seen plenty in yard sales over this summer - cheap. Most think that in order to receive digital signal, you have to use a digital antenna. So the older model antennas are abundant and cheap.

Well digital switch over has now started here with the transmitter 39 miles north from me serving just over 24,000 homes and its two smaller rely transmitters is due to turn off its analouge TV signals 4 days from now 4th/5th August. The transmitter I use 22miles west from me serving just over 116,000 homes and its 6 smaller rely transmitters is due to turn of its analouge TV signals on 14th/15th June 2011. The transmitter thats 12 miles east from me serving just over 31,000 homes and its 5 rely transmitters is due to switch off its analouge TV signals 13th/14th June 2011.
Im as ready as I will ever be for the digital switchover here. North of Scotland started there digital switchover over a month ago and the hole of the south of Scotland is now digital only as of Spetember/October 2009.
