I had a black bear in the back yard and watched it destroy my feeders. It was a decent sized bear. I have pics I will upload later.

How about mounting a plant hanger on the outbuilding wall thats a several feet above the ground. Then hang the feeder on that. Will need a step ladder to fill the feeder, but will have better luck feeding the birds than the bears, deer, etc. Can't say the same for squirrels though. They manage to outdo anything I tried in the past.

Bears? That is some wildlife. The closest we get to anything that size and that ugly rummaging through our bins is the mother-in-law. ;D
