Do rechagable batteries/battery chagres really save you money. For it may save you money in not buying as many batteries but whats the coast of the electric the battery chagers use.

I have been using rechargable batteries for a good few years now mostly AA/AAA ones. I have tried a few battery charges over the years but like the Engergizer 1 hour charger that I got nearly 2 years ago. Im all for energy saving and trying to save a little money. I even just the other month got a small hand held wind up led torch from the discount store in town. I may get another one if they still sell them and give that to mum. Even as posted elsewhere on here I also use energy saving bulbs in 90% of lights in the house and have done for over 2 hours now but the electric bill has not gone down much. Then again the price of electric has gone up by 3.5% in the last 6months over here. Dad even changed electric tariff from standerd tariff with standing charge to the standerd tariff with no standing charge a year ago. So we now just pay for the electric we use. Were as before we had a daily service charge for our electric.

I use rechargeable battery packs in my cordless drill/driver, impact wrench, circular saw, sawzall, liming saw, tire pump and a work light.
Oh yeah, I have a portable work radio that also runs on a rechargeable battery pack.

I have 14.4 Volt Firestorm battery packs for my drill driver too. Though I will need to get at least one more for my drill as two are old and worn out. I have a newer battery pack, but should have at least one more.
Then there are the Versa-Pack batteries we have for the Wizard, Pivot Driver and a drill/driver of my father's. There too the Versa Pack batteries are worn out and need new ones some day.
Fluorescent camp light probably could use a new 6 volt SLA battery someday too. It doesn't work any more.

I bought for $18.00 a Sanyo charger with for Sanyo Eneloop AA rechargable batteries. They have a long shelf life as they have a very slow discharge rate over that of regular rechargables. They are for my new camera.
