Might be getting this Galaxy DX-939 radio soon. Not sure yet as I'm leaning into a spending freeze. Usually do this time of the year. www.copper.com/cart/product_info.php?cPath=22_24_28&products_id=1645This one has the best of both worlds; lighted faceplate and a 5-digit frequency counter. Was thinking about the DX-959 as that one has the 5-digit freq counter. Then the DX-979 as that is more compact and a lighted faceplate. But will cost another $49.99 for the plug-in 6-digit frequency counter. That'll push the price over $200 and I cannot swing that. Would prefer to have a Magnum radio, but those go for $350 on up new.

Are you aware that this is a basic AM CB radio? There is no single side band on this radio.

Looks good but is it worth getting when for just a few doller's more you may be able to get an even better one. I myself will have to start to watch what I spend soon as we all been told there may not be any pay rise this year. As Lexmark look to try and save some money.

I use a Uniden Pro 66XL in my Jeep whenever we're on the highway. I listen to the traffic reports from the truck drivers. As well as the speed traps.

I talk on Single Side Band for long distance talking and talking to Skip. Skip is just a fancy word for radio signals bouncing off the upper layers in the sky and coming back down to earth hundreds to even thousands of miles away (if the conditions are just right).
The drawback to Channel 19 AM, or CB AM period - is too much garbage. Noise toys, foul language, radio operators trying to out power others, etc, etc. Would like to get my HAM license. I think beginners start out on 6 meter.
