Sure would like to know why the fans are quiting like incandescent bulbs are burning out. We HAD three window fans at the beginning of this summer season. Now we're down to only one and that has seen better days. Lost two desk fans so far. Something within the wiring of the stators is quiting or failing. Most likely a thermal fuse. The only way to fix that is to re-wrap the stator with new wiring WITHOUT a thermal fuse.
Things are simply made to quit after a year or so. Quality made produces are history.

There is no such thing is quality made stuff any more. Yeah, we had to replace some of our fans too. We have an old 20 inch box fan I use out in the shop, all metal with a metal 3 wing fan blade - still works great. Made by or for Montgomery Wards we bought back in the 70's. And we have a newer brand by Lasko with a plastic grill and blades. The plastic fan blades broke when the fan tipped over. The other Lasko fan grill is broken and really can't use that in the house with the little ones running around.
Can't tell you how many times the Montgomery Wards fan tipped over on high. Yet it still works great.

Yeah, we have two of those plastic blade box fans. One of which has a broken blade on it, but I still use it. I added some bolts to counter weight the missing blade. Still works fine, just makes an odd sound on MED and HIGH speeds.
