My pickup is having some problems. The mpg's here lately have just barely making it to 20. Last check 20.08 mpg. Highly unusual since the truck has easily got almost 30 mpg's when I bought the truck back in 2007. Normally it should be around 26 to 28 mpg.
Read some articles about the catalytic. Seems that when they clog up, they rob the engine's power and fuel economy.
So doing some price checks, the front cats (3)/Y-pipe cost $368.47. The rear cats (2) cost $284.11. And the four wire heated oxygen sensors cost $43.67, where my truck has four of them. One on each bank of the Y-pipe, one ahead of the first main catalytic and one behind the first main catalytic.
It depends on which ones are starting to clog, front or rear.

Guess I'll have to buy a new muffler for the car soon. Parts of the inside is coming out, like the baffle tubes. Dam that is such a cheap muffler! Never seen one rust out so fast like that before. Just over a year! The original owner paid over $300 to have that put on. WOW![/i]
Might I also add that the muffler shop where the original owner had the work done; told them they also replaced the header, catalytic converter, tailpipe and muffler. The header was never replaced as the mounting bolts are badly rusted and rounded. Neither was the catalytic converter or the tailpipe under the car.

Price checked for mufflers. Auto Zone is the cheapest at $34.99 single outlet. Not sure if that has the tailpipe. Or a dual outlet turbo for $17.99. Other stores were around $40 to $45. It needs one, but... getting stingy with spending any more.
