May be time for some new brake pads for the front. I've been noticing the pedal feels slightly lower than usual. Also been hearing a squealing sound when the pads begin to apply against the rotors.
Was going to check on that last weekend, but had a spur of the moment to head south visiting family. So... it didn't get looked at.

The Cavalier brakes make allot of noise when applied. But that car hasn't been driven in well over a year. The rotors are heavily rusted when I gave it a test drive. But may get new rotors/pads for the front and new drums/shoes for the back. Will also need to fix the parking brake.

Looked at the truck front brakes. Don't need pads replaced. Was going to replace the rotors as one of em is out of round. Pulses when the brakes are applied. But they cost $87.99 each and there are two sizes to choose from. Took the wheel off and the rotor is also the hub that the wheel bolts to. No wonder it is so much more expensive. May just take it off and have it turned as it looks practically new. But that also means I'll have to clean and repack the wheel bearings as well.

Brakes failed on my "car" just as I was getting ready to pull into the driveway. The pedal hit the floor. Glad they failed then and not while I was behind other vehicles out on the road. Because the car is equipped with a 3 speed automatic transaxle, most people NEVER use the park brake. If that park brake would have been working, then it wouldn't have been much of an ordeal. But when you have NO working brakes at all, then you have a major problem.

Luckily they failed by the driveway and not out in traffic. Hope you get the car fixed as they are predicting snow for Thursday.

What year is that Focus? Was looking at the Ford Transport as I really like that mini van allot. Also looked at the Ford Fiesta (great highway mpg's) and Focus.
Yes, the car will be towed and fixed by the same outfit. The guy said he will focus only on the brakes. Will see if he can open the bleeders first. Then take it from there. I only paid $250 for that car and racked on almost 10,000 miles on it. So putting in another $300 to $500 in parts/labor isn't all that bad. At most, that comes out to $750 for that car if the work comes out to $500. It's been a good runner.
I see the leak. A union (two steel lines connected to each other) is all rusted out and ruptured. Don't see any other leaks.

I'm hoping I can get another winter season out of my 1994 Cavalier. I only paid $250 for it and racked up nearly 10k miles so far. It had about 118k when I got it and now it's over 127k. If I pay another $500 for parts/labor then I guess that isn't too big of a deal. Hoping it is less than that. But... will see. Better not exceed $500!!
