I've read about the TCC solenoid online and they claim it's an easy fix, if it is the solenoid valve. It could also be a plugged valve or a bad signal from the ECM. The bolted pan on the transaxle is the valve body cover. That will have to be removed in order to access the valve body. The TCC Solenoid is towards the bottom part of the valve body. Care must be taken as there will be small check balls and springs that may fall out. Some state the engine mount has to be unbolted and the engine supported. Others say that the valve body cover can be taken off after removing the driver's side front wheel. The TTC solenoid cost $18.95.
It's recommended to do preliminary tests to make sure it is the TCC Solenoid and not a plugged valve or bad signal from the ECM. If it turns out to be a bad signal from the ECM, then a diagnostic check of the ECM must be made to find out where it's getting the bad signal from. It could be the TPS, out of adjustment cable linkage, etc.
To have a dealership garage diagnose the problem will cost a minimum of $600. To have them fix it will cost even more. Too much for an old 1994 car with 121k miles that's beginning to rust out in many places. It'll run fine like it is now, just won't get the best possible mpg's. Next summer I could tinker with it and see if I can get it fixed myself. I'm sure I can do it and save a bundle over mechanics labor cost.

That TCC still locks up, even with the switch. I just keep it off all the time. It runs fine without it and really doesn't save that much on mpg's. After all it's only a three speed auto.
But a new replacement driver's side mirror. been looking around at the auto salvage yards & E-Bay. What few I find they want lots of green backs for 'em. So I ended up buying a new mirror from JC Whitney for allot less. $25.99 to be exact. Most of the used units I found were not less than $38 or more. Pays to shop around. Have to have a mirror or risk getting a citation the next time.
