Last night was mostly clear for a while. Then clouds rolled in from the northwest from an approaching thunderstorm complex over Wisconsin. Those storms from my understanding never made it across the lake to our area, but may have brushed the far southwestern corner of the state.
It's overcast now with cooler temps of 65.5°F. humidity is 98% and the barometer is 29.91" Hg. Forecast icon calls for partly cloudy skies within the next 12 hrs. We received a trace of rainfall for today.
Later tonight we may have some heavy thudnerstorms. Friday we may have some strong thunderstorms as we're in a slight risk area for severe thunderstorms. Though it appears the the likelihood will be through Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Possibility for derecho type thunderstorms through that region.

Mostly cloudy, warm and rather muggy. Temp is 70.1°F, humidity is 94% and barometer is 29.80" Hg. Suppose to have a line of thunderstorms (which may be strong or severe) roll through around 4 or 5 am. Another line of potentially severe thunderstorms could roll through again around 10 to 11 pm. Saturday's weather looks better. Mild temps return for next work week.

Warm & mostly sunny here with temps expected to be up in the lower to mid 80's. Areas to our east are still without power. Mugrb is still without power at his house. He's been without power since 3:45 am Friday, June 19th, 2009. Numerous down trees and powerlines. Lots of damage over here too with windows blown out in some lakeside cottages. Wind gusts from 70 to 80 mph here along the lake Michgan Shoreline. I checked online and some parts won't have power on till maybe later tonight to no later than late Tuesday. That's why Mugrb hasn't been online.

So much for this weekend. Thursday night started off mostly clear, warm and humid. Then the clouds rolled in quickly. Then a severe thunderstorm watch was issued. I could hear thunder way off in the distance, long before they moved over the lake do to the warm humid air. Then the thunderstorms moved in over the lake. It looked like they would stay off the our north. But after watching my new mobile phone, a part of the thunderstorm complex started to branch off and headed in a southeast direction. It started to move much faster than the previous 30 mph march to the east. Also a plume of thunderstorms developed quickly just ahead of the gust front. A severe thunderstorm was then issued for our county. I continued to watch the looping radar image on my cellphone. By the time the new cells that quickly developed and connected with the advancing storm from the northwest, conditions here deteriorated very quickly. The rain started first. Had some very close bolts of lighting. Rain became heavier and heavier. Then the winds quickly picked up. Trees and branches started to pelt down against the house. Power went out by 3:45 am Friday, when the storm moved in. My weather station wind gust alarm kept going off with every heavy gust. First gust was around 40 mph, next gust pushed to 48 mph, then another gust up to 57 mph and then the biggest which I thought either this mobile home was going the be smashed with trees crashing down on it or blown away with a peak gust to 69 mph. The anemometer mast was seriously bent. Several large trees fell down in our yard. The winds didn't subside much at all. Then we started to get hail. First as pea size, then getting larger up to 1.5". After about an hour of very heavy winds, very heavy rain and large hail - the storm finally moved on out. But more storms would move in later in the afternoon and evening. But I was at work when the next round of thunderstorms moved in. Our work ceased at around 8:30 pm when Holland was hit with very heavy rain again and high winds. I was looking out the garage door where we dump our metal scraps. The clouds kept getting dark fast. Lighting was intense. Then the rain fell so hard nobody could see the trees on the other side of the parking area for the semi trucks. They closed the garage doors to the scrap area. But the rain fell so hard that the water started to pour in around the doors and filling up around the 40 yard dumpsters. Then around 9 pm we were told that's it!! The 480 volts to the conveyor belts and metal stamping presses had to be shut off immediately. Reason is the conveyor belt area were filling up with water. Plus the welding area was also taking on water too up front. The drainage pipes were filling up with too much water from all the rain. Manhole covers were blowing off and water spouting out from the floors. Toilet bowls int he restrooms look like they were boiling. Sand blowing out of cracks in the cement floors and non used floor drains. When you seen sand blowing up from the floor, water is to follow very soon. When we clocked out, the storm finally moved out. But the parking lot was a river of moving water. My pickup rear wheels were in water up to the rims. I'd say it was about 10" deep by then. I had several detours throughout Holland trying to make my way home. Ended up on the north side of Holland before finally reaching US-31 and headed south. Dodge more fallen tress once I got onto Phoenix Road east of South Haven. Just tonight I found out that a EF-2 tornado went through Pullman. That's only a few short miles from where I live. Currently it is clear, mild and humid. Temp is 71.6°F, 95% Humidity and the barometer is at 29.85" Hg. Forecast Icon calls for overcast skies within 12 hours.

Overnight was cloudy with a passing light rain shower and a low of 13c. Its partly cloudy this morning and hazy sun with 4mph winds and 15c at just after 7.35am. Its to become mostly clear skies in afternoon and sunny with just one or two thin high clouds about but it could stay partly cloudy along the east coast where the sun will be a little more hazy at times with 7mph winds and an aftrernoon of 20c but 19c along the east coast. It should start to get darker at night by a few mins a week after the night. Sunrise 4.20am Sunset 10.04pm
