THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE OVER ALL OF THE AREA TODAY AND TONIGHT. THE MAIN THREATS ARE LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH...BUT ISOLATED TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE AS WELL. THUNDERSTORM MOVEMENT WILL BE EAST AT 40 TO 60 MPH.
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL MAY ALSO OCCUR AND COULD RESULT IN URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOODING WHERE STORMS PERSIST.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL ARE ALSO POSSIBLE ON WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT... PARTICULARLY SOUTH OF A LANSING TO SOUTH HAVEN LINE.
SIGNIFICANT RISES ON AREA RIVERS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE WEEKEND AS TOTAL RAINFALL BY THURSDAY MORNING COULD EXCEED THREE INCHES.
FROST AND FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY NIGHT.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a
* Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in... Allegan County in southwest Michigan... northwestern Barry County in southwest Michigan... southeastern Kent County in southwest Michigan... southeastern Ottawa County in southwest Michigan... western Van Buren County in southwest Michigan...
* until 1145 am EDT Wednesday
* at 1142 PM EDT heavy rain continue to fall in a swath from Van Buren County into Kent County. Rainfall rates of an inch per hour have been reported. It is estimated that storm total rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches have fallen.
The rain will taper off from southwest to northeast through 3 am. The rain will fall heavy at times until then. Local storm total rainfall amounts in excess of 4 inches are possible. This will include much of the rabbit river basin... and into Buck Creek.
Excessive runoff in urban areas around Grand Rapids will likely cause considerable flooding of poor drainage areas.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally... country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued an
* Flood Advisory for urban and small streams for... western Calhoun County in south central Michigan... Kalamazoo County in southwest Michigan... extreme southeastern Van Buren County in southwest Michigan...
* until 1215 PM EDT
* at 1210 am EDT radar showed and area of thunderstorms with heavy rain moving through the Kalamazoo area. These thunderstorms could produce more than a half inch of rain in an hour. This will be enough rain to cause urban an poor drainage flooding. In addition rapid rises on streams and creeks can be expected as the area is relatively wet from recent rainfall.
These thunderstorms will arrive in the Battle Creek area by 1230 am.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams... and ponding of water on country roads and farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of southwest Lower Michigan.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight
Lake effect snow showers and bitter cold will continue to create hazardous travel conditions today and tonight, particularly near and west of a line from Cadillac to Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday
Lake effect snow showers will persist over the weekend, re-intensifying for a time on Saturday night.
Widespread snow accumulations, possibly significant, are expected Monday, followed by additional lake effect snow showers Tuesday and Wednesday.
Life threatening cold air will arrive by the middle of next week, with dangerous wind chills as low as 35 below.
